TT-PCL distance

Written by Dr Sheila Strover on March 14, 2025

The TT-PCL distance is an MRI measurement of the distance from the tibial tubercle to the posterior cruciate ligament, and calculated in the evaluation of kneecap instability.

It is a measurement of how far over to the lateral side the tibial tubercle lies, and it requires three images in its calculation. A larger than normal measurement implies that correction of the position of the tibial tubercle may help to correct patellar instability in an individual. The measurement known as TT-TG distance is more popular amongst knee surgeons.
