Claudication

Written by Dr Sheila Strover on March 14, 2025

Claudication is pain in the calf and foot on walking, coming on only after a certain distance is walked.

Intermittent claudication

The condition relates to inadequate peripheral blood supply. Pain comes on when the limb muscles have inadequate oxygen, and then if the person rests the pain goes away again, only to resume once the same distance has again been walked.
